Marlin fishing continues!

Posted July 23, 2010

After wednesday's catch, we were really enthusiastic about going fishing today, especially as we didn't have the chance to go yesterday; and just as we thought, marlin season has began here in Lanzarote, as we've had two strikes today, and we know that other boats also had some.

The first one was s…

First Blue Marlin of the season!

Posted July 21, 2010

This year took longer than last year, but finally today we caught the 1st blue marlin of the season. It was almost three o'clock and we were approaching the harbour of Puerto del Carmen when all of a sudden one of the 80lb reels began screaming. We soon realised it was a Blue Marlin, not only had we…

Even though Xmas week wasn't very good, we've been having some really good fishing days this winter on the Margarita. What's more, in 2009 we probably had what must be the latest marlin we've ever caught: the last week of november. A beautiful fish of about 250 kilos which we released after a great …

Finally, we've had a good week's of fishing. First marlin of 2009

Posted May 7, 2009

Last monday the very first marlin of the season was caught in Canarian waters by the boat Dorado, from Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria. We'd like to congratulate them for achieving such feat.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks we'll be seeing some Blue Marlin within Lanzarote and Fuerteventura waters.

Yet another bad week

Posted September 3, 2008

This last week has been pretty terrible on the Margarita Segundo, especially due to the northeast winds (called Alisios winds here) which have been particularly strong latelly. Luckily weather forecasts say that from today they are turning weaker, and hopefully will be the beginning of the so-called…

A week to forget

Posted August 25, 2008

This last week has been pretty terrible on the Margarita Segundo, specially as our expectations were really high due to great fishing by the end of July and the first two weeks of August. The only days worth blogging about are tuesday, when we caught seven skipjack tuna that we released due to their…
