Summer fishing on the Margarita Segundo

Posted August 11, 2009

The last few weeks on the Margarita Segundo have been really good. On tuesday 28th we caught the third blue marlin of the season, which unfortunatly died after the battle. The marlin, which weighted an excellent 255 kilos, was caught on an 80 lb rod by an english client that came fishing with his son, after 35 minutes of intense fighting.

The week before, had been really good on wahoo; with quite a few catches, and on thursday 30th we had a great time with a big hammerhead shark that managed to escape after a great fisht of 15 minutes.

Exceptionally, and due to demand, on wednesdays we are departing from Marina Rubicón, doing a bit of trolling and some bottom fishing. Last wednesday it went really well: after one hour trolling we spotted some birds and a shoal of skipjack tuna. We sailed past them and got five, had another go and got another three. At midday we droped anchor and did some bottom fishing: we were not as lucky, but still managed to get a couple of atlantic bonitos with live bait.
