Marlin fishing continues!

Posted July 23, 2010

After wednesday's catch, we were really enthusiastic about going fishing today, especially as we didn't have the chance to go yesterday; and just as we thought, marlin season has began here in Lanzarote, as we've had two strikes today, and we know that other boats also had some.

The first one was soon after we left the harbour. We were less than a mile away when one of the reels began screaming out, and whithin seconds we could see a small blue marlin jumping really close to the boat. Unlike wednesday's marlin, this one did put up an excellent fight, jumping over the water on various occasions, but unfortunatelly its tail got tangled up with the nylon and drowned as it was getting closer to the boat.

The second strike was later in the afternoon, on our way back to the harbour, and funnily on the same rod as the morning's strike. Unfortunately this one didn't take properly and it was gone within seconds. Hopefully we will see each other another day.
