Wahoo fishing in Lanzarote

By Lanzarote Fishing | October 18, 2008

Last wednesday it was a great day of fishing. Oddly enough, this week the two skippers of both Margarita Segundo and Katfish have been fishing together as our crew is out on a course in the fishing school here in Lanzarote. The week started with no big catches but being quite entertaining, however wednesday was the real thing. About 45 minutes after we left Puerto Calero trolling on the Katfish, we found ourselves hooked up with three wahoos at the same time! It was a trully incredible experience as one of the wahoos tried to scape away swimming on the opposite direction of the boat, while the other two kept coming closer, constantly crossing the lines. After 40 minutes of intense fight we brought the last one on board creating a little moment of euphoria among all of us. Truth being said, even though we were very lucky the two of us were on the boat that day, we received the priceless help of a couple of tourists helping us out to reel in the other lines and quickly prepare the fishers for the battle. The biggest of the wahoos, weighting 35 kilo, was caught by a norweigan (?) girl living in London, while the other two weighted about 25 and 28 kilo. We completed the day with lots of small fish, a 4 kilo tuna and a 5 kilo barracuda.

The following day, our luck continued on the Margarita Segundo with another wahoo of about 18 kilo. A trully great week.
