A week to forget
By Lanzarote Fishing | August 25, 2008
This last week has been pretty terrible on the Margarita Segundo, specially as our expectations were really high due to great fishing by the end of July and the first two weeks of August. The only days worth blogging about are tuesday, when we caught seven skipjack tuna that we released due to their small size (one to two kilos); and thursday, when we saw the first marlin of the week soon after we left the harbour. That marlin never got to bite, but another one did bite around midday and immediately began jumping like crazy on the trail of the boat. We quickly reeled in everyone else’s rods and one of our clients began working the impressive fish, that looked to be around 300 kilos. Sadly, in a moment it all went bak to calm again, as the marlin somehow manageed to release the hook. We finished off the day with a beautiful “dorado” and plenty of greetings and thank you’s from our clients that also left a really good tip.
We suffered the other side of the coin on friday, a day with plenty of wind but not a single bite, so we didn’t have any bait to use for the two hammerhead sharks we did see (sharks don’t like plastic). This caused frustation on a couple of our clients that were not very happy at all.
